Me and three friends were back packing near the bighorn dam in september 2008. One night we heard sounds that sounded like whooping and banging rocks together. For most of the night they were distant but at one point we thought they were within 1 km of our camp. I have a 45-70 guide gun that I was carrying and around 4:00 am when the noises were closest, we fired three shots with the rifle and the noises ceased. We are all biology students and none of us recognized the sounds.
