During the August Civil holiday of 2012 myself and a friend were fishing in the Lake Lands region just south of Lac la Biche, Alberta on Pinehurst Lake.

If my memory serves me right it was sometime between 7:00pm and 10:00pm, we were scouting the lake looking for a good location to fish when came upon a point with one side to the open lake and the other side that went into a narrow bay, it was a little windy so we headed into the bay to get out of the wind. We turned the motor off and were just drifting about 100ft from shore.

We began to cast towards the shore when we heard a very loud snap, like someone had just broken a very large piece of wood, we both kind of looked at each other and began to discuss what it was, we new that there were no roads leading to this area and bears are generally very quite, as we were still discussing the situation a very loud bang like two pieces of wood hitting each other rang out, we immediately stopped talking and a started to look into the direction of the noise when a rock (a very large rock) came flying out of the bush and into the water, we reeled in our lines and I started the boat ( with the hair on my back standing up on end) we slowly began to leave the area as we both tried to see something in the woods that would explain what we had just witnessed. We never did see anything and to this day we call the point Sasquatch Point and have full intentions of one day returning to see if anything happens again.
