→ Details of the Event:

It was the last week of May 2004 on the Akamina Parkway in Waterton National Park. Early in the morning….it was overcast, light drizzle. I was driving and remember thinking to myself that there were alot of Snowshoe Hare along side the road eating the fresh greens. I focused on one Hare on the left side of the parkway, but my attention quickly focused on right side of the road and saw a large black figure looking at the Hare and then quickly looking at me. It was standing in the ditch and with its left arm turned away a branch as if to get a better look at me then as quickly as it happened it ended. I kept driving past wondering to myself what I had just seen. I was in a daze of sorts, trying to comprehend what I just saw. I did not stop to try and get a picture nor did I stop to look for prints. I was just in a mild state of shock. Thats all I can say…its hard to describe my feelings. I have told only a handful of people. Most laugh. I still think of it today. Playing the whole scene over and over in my head. When I returned home from my photography trip I researched the internet and found there was a sighting at Waterton almost to the day in 2002.
