When I was little my family and I would go for a hike up the Allstone creek that runs into Abraham lake. We would go all that way up to a waterfall and turn around, it was such nice hike. Anyways my friend “J”, girlfriend “A” and I decided that we should go and try out this hike because I told them of how cool it was with all the pools of water along the creek you could go jump in and what not. So we took off on this hike and it was so beautiful and everything was good. The creek is in the middle of a big I’m not too sure what to call it but there are cliff walls on each side about 100 feet on each side all the way up to the falls which makes you feel “safe” from any bears or what not. We made it to the falls about an hour and a half later and when we got there we decided to relax and take a little break. Me being the most adventurous decided to climb up a rock ledge and there was sort of little cave things on that ledge. I sat up there and noted a very strong smell somewhat like a skunk but more nasty that lingered in there air. I told my friends and they said that they could smell it too. Joking around I said I remembered hearing about how Sasquatch and Skunk apes often carry a strong smell with them sometimes like a skunk. My girlfriend “A” told me to shut up and not to say that because we were so far out in the forest. I also said how could or what would a skunk be doing up a rocky ledge anyways? I climbed down the ledge and my friends wanted to get going because they were scared of what I told them. I stayed behind looking around on top of the cliff in the trees hoping to see something because I love this type of stuff. My friend “J” was up in front and in a hurry to get back. What happened next nobody believes us about at all. I was busy taking my time looking around then all of a sudden I heard this big splash up ahead and seen that a football sized rock had been thrown off the cliff side. The rock nearly hit my friend “J”, he cursed out loud and looked up and didn’t know what to think he said it could have been a Sasquatch. My girlfriend ran up ahead to where “J” was she looked like she was about to cry. I looked up to where the rock came down and seen that the smaller trees on top were moving like something was just there. I didn’t know what to think I was also scared but I wanted to see if I could see what threw the rock. I knew that the rock didn’t break off the cliff because it was a round bolder and not even the same type of rock, also where it landed it had to have been thrown by something. All of us stuck together and got the heck out of there. I never seen anything else on the whole way back but we felt as if we were being watched the whole time. I hope to go back there sometime this year and bring a video camera this time. No one believes us about this story so we’ve felt too dumb to talk about it but I know that whatever made that smell and threw that rock wasn’t any ordinary animal. I am happy that I found this site and can share my experience to someone who might actually believe. The smell was only at that ledge and around the waterfall. It was stronger than a skunk’s smell by being more “heavier”.
