→ Details of the Event:

In October of about 2014 I was backpacking in Elk Lakes Provincial Park between Upper and Lower Elk Lakes.  We were bushwhacking a great deal because the trails had been washed away by the flood of ’13.  We crossed a stream and headed into the dense forest when a  boulder landed behind us in the stream we had just crossed.  I didn’t see or hear any other strange things that day but the second day as we were leaving the hut at sunrise we heard what sounded like whoops a few hundred metres off into the forest.  We stopped and listened and the whoops stopped and changed to what sounded like talking.  At first I was relieved and thought “oh its just people”, even though it didn’t make sense for any humans to be in that direction in the forest that time of day since we were the first ones to leave the hut.  After listening for a few moments longer I realized the “talking” wasn’t English, in fact it didn’t sound like any language, it sounded like gibberish.  Then a pine cone came flying and landed at my feet.  I was so freaked out at that point I didn’t hang around or explore any further, we just booked it out of there.
Despite this scare, I still spend a lot of my time searching for tracks and other Bigfoot sign usually northeast of Radium but also on the trunk road, forestry roads, O&G roads between Waiparous, Sundre and Nordegg.
