This happened years ago!! I was driving a gravel truck out past the Suncor gas plant down the Simonette road. It was an awesome clear summer day, I had just crossed shell creek and started up the hill, at the top of hill the road turns to the left with cut lines on both sides. As I crested the hill I noticed something big and dark run up on the road, at first thought was a bear, but as I got closer it got bigger, it took off across the road upright and went down the cut line, never once did it drop on all fours, I stopped at cut line and no sign of it. I had co-workers come to the spot and help me look for tracks but the muskeg on the cut line was spongy and just popped up and as for the road it was packed solid from all the oilfield traffic so nothing there. No way it was a bear, I’m thinking at least 8 feet tall and it’s something I’ll never forget.
