YEAR: 1985
SEASON: Summer
MONTH: August
DATE: 7/08/1985
PROVINCE: Alberta
COUNTRY: Canada
NEAREST TOWN: Morley
NEAREST ROAD: Highway one-trans canada highway
OBSERVED: In the summer of 1985, it was July and it was clear, sunny and warm. It was late evening, my brother, cousin and two sister and myself were playing baseball in a clearing near our house. Our game was interupted by a loud scream. It sounded like a siren and ended in a growl. We all froze in our tracks and tried to figure out what is was that we had just heard. Then another scream was heard, we immediately dropped our gloves and bats and ran for home. The screaming continued until we ran inside the house, we don’t know how much longer it screamed afterwards. Whatever it was, was not an animal that we have heard before. The sound itself petrified us on the spot
OTHER WITNESSES: there were 4 others including myself(brother, two sisters and cousin) We were playing baseball in a recently made clearing by a bulldozer in the woods
OTHER STORIES: Stories of that nature are common in our community.
TIME AND CONDITIONS: around 4 – 6 pm, it was a nice warm day, the sun was out
ENVIRONMENT: It’s in the foothills, with dense poplar and spruce trees
Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Gary Cronin:
Witness was playing baseball with his friends when they heard a screaming type sound. They had never heard this sound before or since the incident. The boys dropped their baseball equipment and sprinted home. The screams continued while they were running, a total of about 3 minutes. Recently, the witness came across the BFRO site and listened to the audio sounds. When he heard the Snohomish Howl it reminded him of the incident. The witness lives at the edge of a large wilderness area that has a long history of sasquatch activity. He has also heard a whooping sound outside his house in 2005 that he also believes may be sasquatch related. Many of the residents in his community have also had potential sasquatch experiences over the years.
